Oceansst was developed in 2005 providing detailed fishing analysis charts for Game fisherman, here in New Zealand and overseas.
Our customers include people that may only fish a couple of times per season to Charter operators that fish daily. We endeavour to custom our service around the needs of the client we work with to provide a service that can not only save valuable time but hopefully make your next trip a successful one.
Oceansst provides analysis through forecasting current conditions in your area of interest to provide an interpretation of developing hot spots for Game fish. We use the highest resolution Data available (NOAA high resolution Sea Surface Temperature, two hourly & NASA high resolution Sea Surface Temperature and Chlorophyll Data, daily), integrating these with Bathymetric charts, Currents and other Oceanographic Data.
When you receive an analysis map it has been created from a series of maps to establish the movement of water over the previous five days. This gives a valuable insight into areas that have remained stable throughout the Week and areas that are developing.Single Satellite images can not provide important information about water movement that real time Data provides.
Custom Maps
The maps that we generate is are fully rectified, Sea Surface Temperature Data is 1.1 Km Resolution with bottom contours overlaid. Areas of interest are marked with way points included.
Maps are sent via email to you the night before you intend to fish if there is a reason you cannot fish due to weather ,please inform us before hand. Cut off time will be 9.00pm. If you cannot fish you will be credited for your next analysis Map.
As part of the service we provide on the water support via txt or Phone if fishing Tournaments.
Why? when I can Analise my own maps
The service is for Fisherman that may not have the time or inclination to study what is happening on the water on a regular basis. Daily maps will give a general overview of the area at that time but currents can effect water movement as can cold upwellings good water can be pushed offshore quite rapidly We take this into account when providing the service and support for our customers.
We Analise daily taking into account current movements ,then by utilising near realtime data will give you better chance of finding the temperature breaks.
Map Created 13/10/09
Area One: gps coordinates -37-44-53S_ 177 23 48E TO -37 46 12S_177 23 10E This area is on the edge of a developing eddie ,directly west in 85m of water. Warmer water is moving through this area . On the edge of a trench.. The blue green water boundary here, would be well worth spending time if the workups are moving between area one and two.
Area Two: gps coordinates -37 45 56S _ 177 12 59E This area is showing good water quality blue green mixed, the warmer water will be stalling here as it enters the eddie, look for fluctuating temperature readings and work the edge of the water colour change to the west of these marks then moving back to the east in one kilometer squares., The marks given here are on a plateu area so expect to see plenty of bird action on or near the tide change.
Area Three: gps coordinates Bottom of the central arm of the White Island Trench. Good blue water is moving through the trench here with strong temperature break, this will develop into a good area but could be in another day or so.
Area Four: gps coordinates 37 40 49S_ 176 47 00E, This is an area of two converging currents, the warm tongue of water is being drawn into the Temoki Knoll, pulling North into the rise, you could fish the rise then run SW as the water gets pushed down the trench towards to area Six.
Area Five & Six gps coordinates Area Six, 37 36 39S_ 176 46 25E Run on bearing 158.1 degrees to area five 37 44 33S_ 176 49 21E . Running this line will take you over good structure along a finger of warm water, entering good blue green mixed water with a strong temperature change.
When traveling between areas I have marked trolling lines which are on water colour boundaries, fish travel along these boundaries so keep an eye out for bird life and splashes along these boundaries.
